Why I Love Glass Water Bottles (and Loathe Plastic)
I have a bit of a dirty love for glass. When it comes to reusable water bottles, here’s why glass is better than stainless steel and plastic.
Reasons to Love Glass
Glass is naturally tasteless. Since glass is a neutral material, your water will always taste like water in it. This might sound stupid and obvious until you remember how metallic and wonky otherwise perfectly good water tastes out of your favorite stainless steel bottle (which won’t harm you) and how thick and plasticky your water tastes from a plastic bottle (which can harm you). Avoid those icky taste profiles with glass.
Glass is naturally BPA and BPS-free. Plastic bottles contain all sorts of nasty chemicals, even the ones that tout their freedom from BPA. Glass is a safer bet.
Glass is 100% recyclable. Not that you’ll ever tire of your bottle, but if you do, you can recycle it for an upgrade.
Reasons to Love Glass Despite Its Flaws
Glass can break or shatter. So can your phone, but that doesn’t mean you don’t have one.
Glass is heavy. It’s all good. They say weightlifting is a great way to prevent osteoporosis. (Okay, fine. If you really hate heavy or are going on a camping trip or something, try stainless steel instead.)
